Senior Accountant
USAction and its sister organization, USAction Education Fund, are seeking a Senior Accountant. USAction, a national progressive grassroots organization with over three million members and statewide affiliates in twenty-four states, works to mobilize citizens around a wide-range of progressive issues, including health care, foreign policy, public education, consumer rights, democracy reform, and voter participation. USAction Education Fund provides information, training, and technical assistance to grassroots organizations.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable
Code invoices
Expense report verifications
Follow up with vendors as necessary
Receivable
Process affiliate dues billing and collection system
Invoice and collection of outstanding accounts receivables
Payroll Administration- Performs bi-weekly payroll function in a multi-state/company environment, administers benefit programs for health, dental, vision, metrochecks, and 401(k) plans.
Complete leave reconciliation
Research payroll/paycheck inquiries.
Track raise dates for employees.
Update human resource packets.
Assist with job searches, including track resumes, assist hiring managers and maintain job descriptions.
Accounts reconciliation
Review general ledger and balance sheet accounts
Reconcile inter-company accounts
Qualifications:
· Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years previous accounting experience, 2-4 years in payroll.
· Prior experience processing timesheets, generating reports, and processing changes in participants.
· Must be highly motivated, organized and computer proficient.
· Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
· Must have Advance Excel and QuickBooks Pro/Premier skills.
· Able to work independently on projects and also collaborate as a strong team member
· Communicate effectively both internally and externally i.e. check email, forward to appropriate parties and reply timely understanding priorities.
· Innovation and creativity in the form of continuous improvement to internal accounting processes.
· Understand journal entries (debits and credits)
· Non-profit experience a plus.
· Commitment to social change and to working with diverse people and organizations.
