Yesterday, 56 seniors, workers and activists joined Michigan Citizen Action at a rally in Grand Rapids, MI to protest and ask Congressman Amash about his recent votes in support of cutting Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security. For approximately 90 minutes MCA and allies rallied outside of the Gerald R. Ford Federal Building, despite the almost 100 degree temperatures.
Participants signed a petition that was faxed to Congressman Amash’s offices. The petition language firmly opposed any budget proposals or agreements to raise the debt ceiling that include cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.
5 hand-written letters to Congressman Amash were also collected and faxed, as well as personal videos from his constituents were filmed and posted to YouTube.
